Dermal Laser

OVERVIEW

The skin changes in various ways as we age. The pigmentation can change, and dark spots or hyperpigmentation can alter the even tone of the skin. Skin becomes thinner and less firm, resulting in lines, wrinkles and sagging. To maintain more youthful skin, there are a variety of treatments that can address these aging issues. One of the options to rejuvenate the face and reduce facial wrinkles is laser skin resurfacing, available at Orlando Plastic Surgery Associates in Lake Mary, FL.

Dermal laser skin treatments are designed to help anyone who has sun damaged, aging skin, irregularly pigmented skin, wrinkles, sagging, irregular texture of the skin or other skin condition.

The difference involves the spectrum of light energy used and what skin cells are targeted. IPL stands for intense pulsed light. IPL is similar to a laser treatment. However, a laser focuses just one wavelength of light while IPL releases light of many different wavelengths. The light from IPL is more scattered and less focused than a laser.

IPL penetrates down to the second layer of your skin (dermis) without harming the top layer (epidermis).

Pigment cells in your skin absorb the light energy, which is converted into heat. The heat destroys the unwanted pigment to clear up freckles and other spots. In the case of hair, it destroys the hair follicle to prevent the hair from growing again. It may not as effective on light-colored hair as it is on darker hair.

IPL has a myriad of uses and can be used anywhere on your body.
