Thighplasty, usually referred to as thigh lift, is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of excess fat and skin from either the inner or outer thighs. This is often desirable after substantial or bariatric weight loss or in individuals for whom dieting and exercise have failed to reduce excess tissue in their upper thighs.

For optimal results, your thigh lift should be performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon. Surgeons who are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery have undergone extensive training in the field of both cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.

A major benefit of thighplasty is improvement in body contour and tightened thighs, diet and exercise cannot achieve.

Potential benefits may include:

  • Improved self-confidence

  • A more toned and youthful appearance to the thighs

  • Better fitting clothing including swimsuits

  • Reduce or Remove Excess Skin and Stretch Marks

  • Restore a Youthful Look with a smaller waist, and flatter, more toned tummy

Thighplasty procedure reshapes the thigh by reducing excess skin and fat, resulting in a thinner, better proportioned upper leg.

To perform the thigh lift, incisions may vary depending on technique, but will typically start in the groin. Excess fat and skin is removed, and then the incision is closed. If you only need excess fat, not skin, removed, liposuction may be an option for you.

It is expected that these surgical procedures are done under general anesthesia in the outpatient department of the hospital or in a certified surgery center. All Orlando Plastic Surgery Associates surgery cases that are performed in an ambulatory surgical facility are fully accredited to meet strict standards of the AAAASF (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities).

After recovery from surgery, you will be discharged home with care instructions. You will be sent home with pain medication, care instructions, and a compression garment to reduce fluid retention and swelling.

After a thigh lift procedure, it is recommended that patients wear their compression garments 24/7 for 4 weeks (except when showering or washing the garment) and then for an additional 3 weeks (only during the day or when active).

Bruising can be extensive after large surgical procedures. At about the third day after surgery, expect the area to be a deep purple, which will travel with gravity outside of the surgical area and be noticeable for 3-6 weeks. Many patients are able to return to work after a couple weeks and return to full activities after four to six weeks.

Dr. Edgar Sosa will continue postoperative care in the weeks following your surgery to ensure proper healing and satisfactory results.

Confidence is the most beautiful thing you can possess.
