OVERVIEW
Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is amongst one of the most commonly performed aesthetic procedures in the United States. There are many reasons for someone looking to have this procedure. For patients wanting this technique a number of factors come into play such as bariatric surgery, pregnancy, excess skin causing irritation or looking to improve the look of their abdominal wall.
For optimal results, your body lift should be performed by a board certified plastic surgeon. Surgeons who are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery have undergone extensive training in the field of both cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. They must also pass rigorous examinations to verify their proficiency in the area.
Orlando's Tummy Tuck Specialist Dr. Edgar T. Sosa is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has helped many men and women achieve their goal of a flat, sculpted stomach.
BENEFITS
A major benefit of abdominoplasty is improvement in abdominal wall contour and tightened tummy, diet and exercise cannot achieve.
If a Tummy Tuck is right for you, potential benefits may include:
Repair diastasis recti, which is a separation of the abdominal muscles that is common after pregnancy and causes a bulge that does not respond to diet or exercise
Improved self-confidence
Better fitting clothing including swimsuits
Reduce or remove excess skin and stretch marks
Restore a youthful look with a smaller waist, and flatter, more toned tummy.
OPTIONS
Due to the number of variations and modifications of abdominoplasties, it is key that Dr. Edgar Sosa selects the appropriate technique for each patient's needs. We would discuss the best procedure and the expected postoperative desired outcome during your consultation to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.
Mini-Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
When discussing a mini-abdominoplasty, it is important to know that this procedure is designed to remove a very small amount of unwanted abdominal fat which is resistant to weight loss. This is commonly caused by loose skin that does not have the elastic recoil and will not tighten up.
In this procedure, a single incision is made just above your pubic area, which will allow for the scar to be placed as low as possible.
Full Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
In this technique along with the lower incision in the abdomen, we would need to make an incision around the navel. Just like the mini-abdominoplasty, excess skin is removed; in addition, muscles are tightened and liposuction may be used to contour the waist and abdomen.
