What is a Brachioplasty | Arm Lift?
Brachioplasty, commonly referred to as an arm lift, helps to reshape the upper arm by tightening the loose skin between the elbow and axilla. This procedure is common for patients seeking to remove the excess skin caused by weight loss (specially after bariatric surgery) or natural aging.
In certain patients, liposuction maybe used in combination to the surgical procedure to achieve the best aesthetic results.
What to expect from surgery?
- For an arm lift, the most common incision is in the inner arm along the path of the loose skin. The excess skin is then removed in order to achieve the desire aesthetic outcome.
- The skin is then re-draped and a drainage tube is left to minimize the collection of fluid. This tube will be removed within several weeks of the surgery.
- Although, limited scar brachioplasty (mini brachioplasty) is possible; it is not appropriate for everyone.
