As we age, the face not only loses skin elasticity, but also loses fat and muscle tone. This can make an individual appear aged or unhealthy. A facelift procedure can help to make the face appear younger. With results that can last up to ten years and sometimes even longer, a facelift is a long-term procedure that can help turn back the hands of time.
What is a Facelift?
A facelift is a surgical procedure that removes excess facial skin and tightens underlying muscle to make the face appear younger. A facelift may also be combined with other procedures, such as a neck lift, eyelid surgery, liposuction, fat injection, forehead lift, brow lift, chemical or laser peel, and cheek or chin implants.
Not only can a facelift improve many areas of the face, it can also recontour the neck and jawline more accurately and with more natural-looking results than any other technique.
Am I a good candidate for a Facelift in the Orlando Area?
If you are experiencing sagging skin in your midface area or jawline, have deep nasolabial folds or marionette lines, have lost facial volume, or have jowls, a double chin, or creasing and sagging skin on the neck, you may be able to benefit from a facelift. A facelift in Orlando or the Lake Mary area might be a good option for you if you are physically healthy, do not smoke, and have a positive outlook and specific, but realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance.
Dr. Johnson’s Facelift Patients
What can I expect from a Facelift?
A traditional facelift is performed through an incision starting in the hair or hairline above and in front of the ear. The skin and fatty tissues are then lifted off the underlying muscle and connective tissue and adjusted as far forward as is necessary to tighten the loose skin on the face. Underlying muscle and tissue are tightened with dissolvable sutures. The skin is then pulled back and upward, and the excess skin is removed. The incision is then closed with sutures under the skin. Dr. Johnston aims to create incisions in inconspicuous areas so that they are virtually undetectable when healed.
How long is the recovery from a Facelift?
Pain and discomfort following this procedure are usually minimal. Once the bandages are removed, you may resume normal social activities- usually within 2-4 weeks depending on your progress. Any discomfort can be controlled with prescription pain medication. Following Dr. Johnston’s post-op instructions is pivotal to ensure a healthy and timely recovery.
