The America Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has released its annual plastic surgery statistics report. The report shows a continued growth in many plastic and cosmetic procedures over the last year. In 2016, Americans spent more than ever on cosmetic plastic surgery procedures, totaling $16 billion. Read on to learn which procedures have risen in popularity.

Cosmetic Surgical Procedures

While subtle, there have been some changes in surgical procedure stats since 2015. Breast augmentation still stands as the most popular procedure, rising 4%. Eyelid surgery rose 2%, while facelift surgery rose 4%. Liposuction rose 6%, while abdominoplasty stats found no change.

Minimally-Invasive Procedures

Since 2015, Botox and Dysport injections are still ranked as the most popular minimally-invasive procedures, rising 4%. Injectable fillers only found itself rising 2%, while laser skin resurfacing rose 3%. Chemical peels rose 4%, while microdermabrasion actually fell 3%.

Overall, both plastic and cosmetic surgery stats have risen in popularity, and don’t seem to be slowing down in the future. Now more than ever, both men and women seem to be choosing to undergo minimally invasive procedures over more invasive options. This is probably due to the quick results and minimal downtime they require. Also, minimally-invasive procedures often offer temporary results for those who do not want to commit to long-term changes.

The stigma that plastic and cosmetic surgery is exclusively for women has also begun to disappear, with more men choosing to undergo procedures to help them feel their best.
